Pakistan government takes key decisions over mass vaccination

ISLAMABAD- National Command Operation Center Chief Asad Umarlink has said the federal governmentis going to launch a mass campaign link for coronavirus link vaccinationlink.

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad after chairing a sessionof the NCOC to review the coronaviruslink in the country onMonday, he said the restrictions imposed by the government before Eid hadmade the situation better as the coronaviruslink rate was declining.

Umar said that the government was hoping to get enough people vaccinated byEid-ul-Azha so that there would be no need to impose restrictions like theyhad to on Eid ul Fitr.

He said that all departments of federal or provincial governments wereworking together against COVID-19.

Asad Umar link said that thegovernment would seek the help of the media for the vaccinationlink campaignlink. He said one million doses of thecoronavirus link vaccine would reachPakistan in the month of June and the same amount would reach in July. Heinformed that seven million people had been vaccinated till now. He saidthat the vaccination link would beavailable for free for the people above 18 years of age.

Asad Umar link said that the federalgovernment asked the provinces to increase their capabilities to actagainst the spread of coronaviruslink cases.“We want to achieve a target of 70 million vaccinations by the end of thisyear,” he said.

Umar said that they were going to adopt a ‘whole of government’ approach tocombat the pandemic. He said under the whole of government approach, theNational Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) would hold a meeting withmedia owners and anchorpersons tomorrow. He said the media played apositive role when coronavirus link wasfirst reported. He said they wanted a big vaccinationlink campaignlink focusing on why vaccinationlink is necessary and media could helpin this regard. He further said that the NCOC would invite business forumsand ask them to join the government to fight against the pandemic. “We willtell them how we want their help. We do not want their money, we will givethem vaccines and through them, we will try to vaccinate their employeesand their families,” he said and added that in the next step of thecampaign link, the government would reachout to the religious scholars.

He said to further the campaign link,the government would reach out to the bar councils and journalistorganizations as well.

He said their strategy could only be successful when every Pakistani tookpart in it. -APP/AFP
