PM Imran Khan’s letter to Indian PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi,for creating an enabling environment to hold a constructive andresult-oriented dialogue between the two countries.

He expressed these views in a letter written in response to the greetingsconveyed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to him on Pakistan Day.

The Prime Minister said the people of Pakistan commemorate this Day bypaying tribute to the wisdom and foresight of our founding fathers inenvisioning an independent, sovereign state where they could live infreedom and realize their full potential.

Responding to Modi’s desire for cordial relations, Imran Khan said thepeople of Pakistan also desire peaceful, cooperative relations with allneighbours including India.

The Prime Minister said we are convinced that durable peace and stabilityin South Asia is contingent upon resolving all outstanding issues betweenIndia and Pakistan, in particular the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

He said creation of an enabling environment is imperative for aconstructive and result-oriented dialogue.

The Prime Minister also conveyed his best wishes for the people of India inthe fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
