MUZZAFARABAD – The body of a teenage girl, who disappeared three weeks ago,was recovered from a stormwater drain in district Poonch of Azad Kashmirearly Saturday morning.

The initial postmortem report revealed that the 16-year-old girl wasgang-raped and then murdered.

The girl, who hails from a surrounding area of Ali Sojal, had disappearedabout three weeks ago, her parents said.

Soon after the body was found, the victim’s family staged a protestclaiming that they had registered a complaint when the girl disappeared.But the area police had not taken any action, they added.

Police said they were investigating the rape-murder case.
