My dream has come true today, says Malala Yousafzai

SWAT – Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel laureate who is on a 4-day visit toPakistan, landed in her hometown Swat Valley today.

This is the first time Malala set foot in her hometown since 2012 when shewas shot in the head by Taliban terrorists.

Pakistan Army, who ensured safety of Malala, her father and two brothers,facilitated the visit, wrapped around tight security.

Malala met with family members and friends before visiting Swat CadetCollege Guli Bagh, about 15 kilometers outside of the main town Mingora.

Malala looked happy and delighted to be able to see her family and friendsin her hometown, something, which she said, is nothing less than a ‘dream’come true.

“I left Swat with my eyes closed and now return with my eyes open,” shetold AFP, remembering her memory of how she was airlifted out in a state ofcomma after the Taliban attack.

“I am extremely delighted. My dream has come true. Peace has returned toSwat because of the invaluable sacrifices rendered by my brothers andsisters,” maintained Malala, addressing the students of Swat Cadet College.
