In a first, Pakistan government establishes “National Emergency Helpline”

Karachi - In wake of the Motorway Rape incident, the government has decided to establish a National Emergency Helpline to provide immediate help to the people in case of emergency like situation.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the PM Delivery Unit (PMDU) to establish the national helpline in two months’ time.

A tweet by Information Ministry on Tuesday stated, "Big decision by Prime Minister Imran Khan in wake of Motorway incident. Government decides to establish a national emergency helpline. Prime Minister Imran Khan has made the PM Delivery Unit responsible for this important task."

The entire emergency help line numbers will be linked to the new system. The Latest technology will be used in this system and the cooperation of all the cellular companies will also be sought in this regard.

The National Emergency Help Line will be a toll free number. The PM office said that legislation will also be carried out in consultation with the provinces to make the system more effective.
