A complaint has been formally submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council concerning Islamabad High Court judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, alleging misconduct. The complaint, filed by Advocate Raja Maqsood Hussain, calls for an investigation into the allegations and requests the temporary removal of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani from his position pending the resolution of the complaint.

The accusations against Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani revolve around the alleged misuse of his administrative powers as an administrative judge. He is said to have unfairly assigned cases involving his relatives and friends, including false cases, within his jurisdiction.

Additionally, it is claimed that Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani is providing unwarranted protection to illegal boat operators at Rawal Dam, and there is a perception that government departments are hesitant to take action against his relatives.

The complaint further asserts that Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has exhibited favoritism towards associates and lawyers affiliated with AQ Associates. It calls for legal action to be initiated against him for favoring lawyers with whom he has a connection.

The complainant has raised concerns about Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani's numerous undisclosed properties both in Pakistan and abroad. These properties include 15 undeclared immovable assets, comprising eight plots, nine houses, and apartments. Notably, an undisclosed property in Sector F-6 of Islamabad is estimated to be valued at two billion rupees.

The reference highlights a troubling trend wherein Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani consistently presides over cases involving close friends and immediate relatives, whether they appear as lawyers or parties in those cases.

The complainant expresses that this practice is unprecedented and questions how the judge can claim professional integrity beyond that of judicial systems worldwide, asserting that such unethical conduct has no precedent in the history of Pakistan's judicial system.
