ISLAMABAD - Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, economy and culture.
The understanding came at a meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on the sidelines of the meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah today.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Turkey have multi-faceted relations for being government to government, people to people and heart to heart. He said both the countries openly supported each other in difficult times.
He said Turkey backed Pakistan's stance in the Pakistan-India tension following the Pulwama incident. He said there has been complete harmony in the viewpoints of Pakistan and Turkey on several international issues.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said it is either 2005 devastating earthquake or 2010 flood, Turkey came to help Pakistan.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said Pakistan was the first country to give assurance of its support to the Turkish government and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after the failed military coup in Turkey on July 15, 2016.
He said Pakistan Supreme Court declared Gulen a terrorist organization on December 13, 2018, which was commendable.
