KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday gave the decision against the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) when it ordered the party to stop using the national flag as a political flag.

According to details, instructions were also given to the party leadership to stop using the national flag for political affairs. The legal representative of PSP said that the party would challenge the decision at the High Court.

“If not the national flag of Pakistan, should the people carry the flag of India out of love for the country?” asked Mubeen Qazi, PSP’s attorney. “After the decision is given in writing, we will challenge it at the High Court under Article 19,” he added.

The petition had been filed with the Election Commission of Pakistan by Sajid Kiyani. The ECP had reserved the decision on February 9, 2017.

When Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani had announced their decision to launch a political party in Pakistan in March of last year, they had announced that the national flag would be the party’s flag.

Ever since then, the party has resorted to using the national flag of Pakistan at public rallies and political meetings.
