ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Nationals still have billions of rupees in their Swiss Bank accounts, years after it was revealed that black money from Pakistan is largely deposited in the Swiss Banks.
Switzerland National Bank (SNB) on Thursday said the amount of money kept there by Pakistani nationals was recorded at Rs153b at the end of 2016 down from Rs165b in 2015, a fall of 6pc.
This represents a second year of consecutive decline of the amount parked in Swiss accounts by Pakistani nationals.
Figures available from SNB reveal that the total amount of money held back in 2001 was a record Rs375b attributable to Pakistan, but has seen a massive decrease since then.
At the end of 2013, the figure had fallen to Rs134b in 2013. A rise of 6pc and 16pc was witnessed in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
The total amount of money held in Swiss banks across the world rose from $1.45t to Rs1.48t as per the available data.
