27 Judges made OSD on questionable reputation

LAHORE: (APP) Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah along with Senior Puisne Judge Justice Shahid Hameed Dar met with the District and Sessions Judges and Senior Civil Judges from all over Punjab in the Punjab Judicial Academy on an Iftar Dinner.

The CJ shared his views with the members of District Judiciary to highlight his vision of accountability, transparency, predictability and certainty, and said that District Judiciary was the backbone of the institution and the trust of people in the justice delivery system was dependent on their performance.

The Chief Justice added that he believed in self-accountability of the Judiciary and as a practical step he had made 27 judicial officers OSD who had a question mark on their reputation. He was of the view that perception of a judicial officer had to be of an unimpeachable character and any judicial officer with a reputation of being corrupt won’t be spared.

He said the High Court, the District Judiciary and the professional lawyers were on the same page to promote the values of justice, equity and fair play.

He emphasized that the High Court as an institution would stand with the District Judiciary in solution of every problem, adding that he was going to constitute an advisory committee of the Judiciary for the purposes of consultation in the affairs of District Judiciary.

He said making of promotion and transfer policy of the members of District Judiciary was on the cards. Showing his idea of being approachable to the District Judiciary, he said that he would be available to meet the Judicial Officers two hours every week to hear their problems.

The CJ asserted that judiciary in Punjab had to make their mark and to excel in dispensation of justice to common man.
