Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Dr. Qibla Ayaz says the Council is making all out efforts to highlight soft image of Islam through legislation and consensus of all schools of thought.
In an exclusive interview with News and Current Affairs Channel of Radio Pakistan, he said Islam does not allow any kind of violent activity in the name of religion and strongly rejects mob lynching.
Dr Qibla Ayaz said both religion Islam and our constitution guarantee freedom of religion and faith and do not impose any restriction on practice of rituals.
He said Council of Islamic Ideology is also working to address the issues like forced conversion and underage marriages and sensitizing the society to discourage these incidents.
Dr Qibla Ayaz said strategy is also being chalked out to ensure that blasphemy law 295-C is not misused for certain targets and efforts are afoot to enforce relevant laws.
He said clerics of all schools of thought strongly and unanimously condemned Sialkot mob lynching incident and we expressed solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka.
He expressed the hope that the steps taken by the government will help ensure that no such event will happen in future.
