Senate passes resolutions to discourage excessive use of plastic in Govt departments

The Senate today passed two resolutions recommending the government to take necessary steps to discourage excessive use of plastic in government departments and to acquire possession of all the land in Zone-1 in Islamabad, earmarked for green belts in master plan and make plantation on the same irrespective of its present status of development.

The House which met with Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair also passed four bills.

The bills include The Exit from Pakistan (Control) (Amendment) Bill, 2018”, “The Banking Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2018”, “The Trained Paramedical Staff Facility Bill, 2018”, and “The Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Bill, 2018.

Responding to a motion, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Khan Swati told the Senate that a task force has been formed to address the issue of growing population in the country.

He stressed the need for creating awareness and educating the masses to overcome population explosion.

The Minister said all provinces have agreed on the recommendations of Council of Common Interest regarding population control.

The House will now meet at three in the afternoon, tomorrow.
