People overwhelmingly boycotted 4th phase of sham Indian Parliamentary elections in Kulgam District

In occupied Kashmir, several youth were injured when Indian troops fired pellets and teargas shells during protests against the fourth phase of drama, enacted by India in the name of parliamentary elections in different areas of Kulgam district.

According to reports, hundreds of people, mostly youth, raising pro-freedom, anti-India and anti-election slogans marched towards the polling stations set up in school buildings in Qaimoh, Bugam and Kujjar areas of Kulgam and pelted stones on the polling staff.

Meanwhile, people overwhelmingly boycotted the fourth phase of the elections in occupied Kashmir, today, as 90 per cent voters stayed away from the polling.

Complete shutdown was observed in the entire poll-bound Kulgam district in the second leg of three-phased parliamentary election on Islamabad’s Lok Sabha seat, today.

Call for the boycott and strike was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership. All shops and business establishments were closed while traffic was off the roads. The authorities snapped mobile internet service. Train service was also suspended in the Kashmir valley.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement in Srinagar, today, strongly condemned the midnight raid on the residence of septuagenarian party activist, Master Ali Mohammad Dar, in Hajin by Indian army and police personnel.

The Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum in a statement  in Srinagar denounced the prevention of hundreds of trucks laden with fruits and vegetables from plying on Srinagar-Jammu highway. 

On the other hand, the High Court Bar Association in a statement  in Srinagar  appealed to the International human rights organizations to take cognizance of human rights violations in the valley.
