PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai said Maulana Fazl ur Rehman is mulling over an alliance to protect the corrupts from accountability.

Addressing as a chief guest at Swat Press Club after administering oath from newly elected cabinet members, he said that Maulana should have to realize that the accountability process would continue unabated.

Referring to PPP and PMLN, he said the people rejected both the political parties in  general election and held them accountable for their deeds and making the country’s economy bankrupt, adding that due to wrong policies of the past two governments and huge foreign loans taken by them, today the present government was paying billions of rupees’ interest on daily basis.

He said the confused opposition was making hue and cry over the accountability process and trying to make issues from non-issue and blaming the PTI government for corruption. “If opposition has any evidence of corruption against any member of PTI then make it public, the government would take action, he remarked.

Shuakt said the present government was still making efforts to undo the wrong policies of the past governments. The ruling party in Sindh province was actually responsible for turning Karachi city into ruins.

“Both the former leaders committed huge corruption through money laundering during their tenures and brought the country’s economy at the verge of collapse,” he said and hoped the PTI government would soon overcome the price-hike and steer the country on path of development and prosperity.

The Minister said the overall economic situation is improving. Soon the youth would get better employment and business opportunities, he maintained.

Shaukat said the journalists’ community and media have great responsibility to point out corruption and keep the people informed about the performance of the present government and its’ measures against corruption and strengthening of democracy.

He said the present government was taking steps at provincial level to address the problems of media professionals and facilitating them in discharge of their duties, adding that training sessions would be held for journalists to keep the government informed about real problems of masses.

He assured issuance of health card for journalists, work on media colonies and timely release of annual grant for press clubs.
