Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed thecellular mobile operators (CMOs) to improve the voice, SMS and dataservices up to the licensed standards, within 30 days.
The authority issued the instruction after it found anomalies during asurvey.
The PTA has published independent cellular Quality of Service (QoS) Surveyresults of 4th Quarter (Q4) of 2020 on PTA website
In order to measure the performance & service quality of 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS/ HSPA+) & 4G (LTE), of Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs), independentQuality of Service (QoS) survey was performed using newly procuredautomated QoS monitoring & benchmarking tool “Smart-Benchmarker”- from 23rdNovember to 11th December 2020 in Kabirwala, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Karachi,Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar.
After detailed analysis of the survey results, voice and SMS services ofCMOs were found below the minimum required licensed standards whereas, dataservices of all CMOs were found satisfactory and up to the mark.
Based on the survey results, CMOs have been directed to rectify theidentified anomalies.
