ISLAMABAD: Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelattyarrived in Islamabad on Sunday on an official visit aimed at strengtheningbilateral ties and advancing peace initiatives in Gaza.
Upon arrival, Dr Abdelatty held delegation-level talks with Deputy PrimeMinister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar at the Ministry ofForeign Affairs. The Egyptian minister commended Pakistan for playing asignificant role in facilitating the Gaza ceasefire agreement and expressedgratitude for Islamabad’s consistent support to the Palestinian cause.
Both leaders reviewed the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistanand Egypt, emphasising shared objectives on regional stability and mutualcooperation in diverse fields.The visit is considered crucial forreinforcing economic, defence, and strategic collaboration between the twobrotherly nations, officials said.
During a joint press conference, Ishaq Dar stated that Dr Abdelatty’s tripwould contribute significantly to achieving common goals and deepeningbilateral engagement.Dar reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to participate in the proposedInternational Stabilisation Force for Gaza but clarified that Islamabadwould not take part in any disarmament of Hamas.
He stressed that disarming Palestinian resistance groups remains theresponsibility of the Palestinian Authority and its law enforcementagencies.The deputy prime minister noted that several Muslim countries,including Pakistan, are unwilling to undertake such a role in thestabilisation process.
Both sides expressed commitment to expanding cooperation in trade,investment, education, and counter-terrorism while coordinating positionson key Muslim world issues.
