Indian Army Deploys Kamikaze Drones Against Pakistan Border

ISLAMABAD: The Indian Army has finalised plans to induct loiteringmunitions and first-person-view kamikaze drones specifically to neutralisePakistan’s Border Action Teams that operate along the Line of Control inJammu and Kashmir.

Military sources said the decision follows repeated attempts by PakistaniBAT units to facilitate infiltration and carry out ambushes on Indianforward posts, particularly in areas like Keran, Tangdhar and Uri sectors.

The new drone systems will provide beyond-line-of-sight precision strikecapability and allow Indian troops to engage hostile teams even in denseforests and ravines where traditional artillery remains less effective.

Procurement of several hundred FPV kamikaze drones and advanced loiteringmunitions has already been fast-tracked under emergency financial powersgranted to the three services.

These platforms can be launched from handheld tubes or small vehicles andare equipped with day-night cameras and anti-jamming features to counterelectronic warfare measures employed across the border.

Defence analysts view the induction as a major shift incounter-infiltration tactics, moving from reactive patrolling to proactivehunting of trans-border strike groups.

The development comes amid heightened tension along the LoC, whereceasefire violations have shown an upward trend since early this yeardespite the 2021 understanding.

Indian officials maintain that Pakistani BAT operations continue unabatedand often involve regular army personnel providing covering fire toinfiltrating militants.
