IHC adjourns appeal against PTI s chief s acquittal in SSP torture case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) adjourned a case challenging the acquittal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) chief Imran Khan in SSP Asmatullah torture case for an indefinite period.

An IHC bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani heard the federation’s appeal against the decision of Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).

During the course of proceedings, the court expressed displeasure over Assistant Advocate General (ADG) Sadaqat Abbasi for not attaching the case record with the appeal. The court observed,”You have challenged the acquittal of PTI head but does not attach the case record.”

The ADG informed the court that the copy of the record was not available in the Estate Office.

At this, the court adjourned the case, directing the ADG to produce the case record on next hearing.

It may be mentioned here that the ATC had acquitted the PTI chief in the SSP Asmatullah torture case due to lack of evidence against him.
