DHAKA – Bangladesh police have arrested six people with suspected ties to aburglary at the Pakistan High Commission last week.
Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner Mostak Hossain detailed that thearrests were made separately on Tuesday.
Police identified the detained as Md Mostafa, 35, Dulal Mia, 34, Md Sajalalias Kalu, 22, Jahangir Alam, 45, Nimai Babu, 42, and 35-year-old SekulIslam.
The developments came after Pakistan lodged a strong protestlinkoverthe burglary at its high commission in Dhaka.
In a statement posted on its website on Tuesday, Pakistan’s foreign officesaid unknown burglars broke into the consular section of its highcommission in Dhaka and got away with computers.
‘The matter was immediately reported to Bangladesh’s police and an FIR waslodged. Bangladesh Foreign office was also informed and strengthenedsecurity was requested,’ the foreign office said.
“It is the responsibility of the Bangladesh government to provide fullsecurity to the Pakistan High Commission premises,” the spokesman Dr Faisaladded.
