Pakistani Skipper Babar Azam personal WhatsApp message leaks stir new controversy

The personal WhatsApp message leak involving national cricket team captainBabar Azam has been a hot topic in both mainstream media and social mediaover the past day.

Two days ago, Rashid Latif, a former wicketkeeper of the national team,made a claim on a show that Babar Azam had been sending messages toChairman PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf, CEO Salman Naseer, andDirector of International Cricket Usman Wahla. However, according to RashidLatif, these messages were being ignored by the three board members.

In response, Chairman PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf gave aninterview on a private TV channel yesterday, during which he refuted RashidLatif’s statement and expressed regret. Zaka Ashraf asserted that BabarAzam had never attempted to contact him directly, contradicting RashidLatif’s claim that the team captain, director of international cricket, orthe CEO had reached out to him.

During the interview, Chairman PCB displayed a screenshot of a WhatsAppconversation between Babar Azam and CEO Salman Naseer, which was broadcaston TV. In this exchange, Salman Naseer asked Babar Azam about reportscirculating in the media and on social media regarding his attempts tocontact Zaka Ashraf. Babar Azam’s response was, “Salman brother, I have notmade any call to Sir, i.e., Zaka Ashraf.”

Chairman PCB faced heavy criticism from former captain Azhar Ali and othersocial media users for sharing Babar Azam’s personal message on television.This incident has also sparked questions on social media, with manywondering whether Zaka Ashraf obtained permission from the team captainbefore disclosing Babar Azam’s personal message to the public.
