ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved 10 megaprojects worth Rs 78.3 billion.
CDWP on Wednesday approved seven projects worth Rs26.1 billion andrecommended three projects worth Rs52.2 billion to the Executive Committeeof the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for consideration.
The CDWP meeting, which was presided over by Planning Commission DeputyChairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, deliberated upon various projects relatedto energy devolution & area development, transport & communication,physical planning & housing and water resources.
Two projects related to energy devolution & area development were presentedduring the meeting. The first project titled “Bajour Area DevelopmentProject”, worth Rs861.917 million, was approved by CDWP.

The main objective of the project is to eliminate poppy cultivation byproviding alternate livelihood facilities to the people of the area;construction of rural roads will also make the area accessible to politicaladministration.
