Flight operations of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have beendisrupted due to the grounding of five Boeing aircraft, according to ARYNews. Specifically, three Boeing 777 aircraft were grounded for maintenancepurposes, while two others were permanently taken out of service due to theabsence of engines.

Currently, out of PIA’s fleet of 12 Boeing aircraft, only seven areoperational, with one aircraft being non-functional in Jeddah. The nationalairline requires $60 million for aircraft maintenance.

These technical issues not only posed flight safetyrisks but also caused inconvenience to passengers and financialdifficulties for the airline.

In May of the same year, a report from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)revealed that a total of eight PIA aircraft were grounded, with seven ofthem being repairable, while one was deemed unusable. Among these werethree Boeing 777s, two airbuses, and three ATRs grounded due to lack ofservice.
