NEW DELHI – India’s young batting star Prithvi Shaw has been suspended foreight months by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for dopingviolation.
Shaw, who made his Test debut in November 2018, has been handed aback-dated suspension until November 15, 2019.
“Mr. Prithvi Shaw registered with Mumbai Cricket Association, has beensuspended for doping violation. Mr. Shaw had inadvertently ingested aprohibited substance, which can be commonly found in cough syrups,” saidBCCI in a statement.
Shaw’s urine sample was taken during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match onFebruary 22, 2019 in Indore, as part of the BCCI’s anti-doping testingprogram.
