ISLAMABAD – Nawaz Sharif was shifted to Pakistan Institute of MedicalSciences (PIMS) from Adiala Jail on the recommendation of a medical teamand his personal physician after doctors expressed concern about his health.

The medical board headed by Dr Ejaz Qadeer and comprising cardiologist DrNaeem Malik, Medical Specialist Dr Shaji Siddiqui, neurologist Dr SohailTanvir and Dr Mashood carried out medical checkup of the former PM after hecomplained about pain in his arm and chest.

Caretaker Punjab Home Minister Shaukat Javed said on state-run PakistanTelevision (PTV) that doctors had advised his transfer to hospital after anelectrocardiogram had shown “variations”.

The Chief Commissioner Islamabad has declared the private room of CardiacWard in PIMS where Nawaz Sharif was shifted as sub-jail. A notification inthis regard has also been issued.

According to the notification, the private room of Cardiac Ward in PIMSwill remain as sub-jail as long as Nawaz Sharif remains under treatmentthere.
