SRINAGAR: The Indian government has decided to deploy women commandoes inheld-Kashmir to ‘tackle stone pelting incidents in the valley’.
According to Times of India, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) hasprepared a team of lady commandos to deal with protesters.
The female commandos, according to Indian wire service ANI, have been givenrigorous training by the CRPF forces. During their training, the women wereblindfolded to deal with night-time deployment and also taught to repairweapons in under a minute in case of any malfunction.
India says this is not the first time that women have been inducted intosecurity forces to handle crises. India’s paramilitary forces already havewomen in combat roles. Women from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) werealso deployed to fight Maoists in 2016.
Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat recently was quoted by the Indianmedia as saying that it was the need of the hour to induct women in combatroles where they would fight enemies alongside the men.
According to Indian forces claims, there has been a rapid increase instone-pelting incidents over the last few years.
