Sindh’s representative Saturday accepted that his province was getting a100 percent water quota from Punjab after visiting Panjnad Headworks.
According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, the Sindh government appointed itsofficer Nazir Ahmad Shahani to confirm the usage of extra water from Punjabby visiting water distributaries especially the Panjnad Headworks in theprovince.
After observing the flow of water for Sindh as per the approved quota byIndus River System Authority (IRSA) for his province on Saturday, Shahaniaccepted the stance of Punjab on water distribution as correct.
The Sindh Officer also confirmed that as per the approved quota, Sindh wasgetting a full quota of water about 5,000 cusecs from Panjnad Headworks.
He also thoroughly checked the discharge water of the canals of Punjab andexpressed satisfaction over it.
IRSA Chairman Rao Irshad Ali Khan had already dispelled the impression thatsome provinces were getting an unequal portion of water, insisting that thewater distributary body allocates a due share of water to every province.
He said that Sindh’s claim regarding getting a small portion of water wasuntrue.
He said IRSA kept the water apportionment record of all the provinces,adding that Sindh was given 71,000 cusec water as per its due share. WhilePunjab is being given 96,000 cusec water.
He said the measurement of water shortage was equally divided and shared byPunjab and Sindh.
