PM Khan makes a pledge to the Nation

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the country will onlyprogress when people give their due taxes.

In a message to the nation on Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan, hesaid only one percent tax filers exist in the population of 220 millionwhich is a very small proportion. As people do no give taxes, government isnot in a position to build hospitals, schools and other facilities forpeople.

The Prime Minister urged the non-tax filers to avail the asset declarationscheme introduced by the government, under which people can bring theirundeclared assets into the mainstream which will help government collecttaxes for public welfare.

He said the scheme will continue by 30th of next month and after that therewill not be opportunity for any other amnesty.

He said the tax collecting agencies have already gained access toinformation regarding the undeclared assets of the people, and moreinformation is also being received.

Imran Khan said tax money will be spent on people and the country.

The Prime minister assured that this money will not be stolen as he willhimself look after it. He said people can also sleep with peace afterdeclaring their undisclosed income. This step will also help governmentcoming out of its difficult economic phase.
