*LAHORE – The Transparency International has revealed the Corruption IndexReport 2018.*
*Pakistan has a slight improvement in the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Indexscoring just a point higher than in 2017 but remaining unchanged in therankings.*
The* Transparency International*link onTuesday released a *“Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2018”* report. Thereport stated that *Pakistan scored 33 out of 100* in the index – one pointbetter than its score of *32 in 2017*. It’s overall ranking.
According to the report, more than *two-thirds* of countries score below *50on this year’s CPI,* with an average score of just 43. The *US lost fourpoints to score 71 out of 100,* sending the country tumbling out of the top20 for the first time since 2011.
Since 2012, only *20 countries* have significantly improved their scores,including Argentina and Côte D’Ivoire, and 16 have significantly declined,including, *Australia, Chile and Malta.*

*Denmark and New Zealand* top the index with 88 and 87 points,respectively. Somalia, South Sudan, and Syria are at the bottom of theindex, with *10, 13 and 13 points,* respectively.
The highest scoring region is *Western Europe and the European Union,* withan average score of 66, while the lowest scoring regions are sub-SaharanAfrica, with the average score 32, while Eastern Europe and Central Asiahave the average score of 35.
