ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court has directed Punjab government for taking legal action against the private universities that have established illegal sub-campuses in the Province.
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar passed the orders while hearing a suo motu case regarding private universities at the Supreme Court Lahore registry today.
The court has also sought details about the number of private universities and their affiliated colleges in Punjab from the Advocate General.
In another case, Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar heard a suo motu case regarding the salaries of the public sector companies' heads.
During the proceedings, a NAB official submitted the report that extra salaries worth 313 million rupees have been taken back from the officers of the 56 public sectors companies.
He said that nine officers still have not returned the extra salaries amounting to 118 million rupees.
At this, the Chief Justice sought the response of the officers who have not yet returned the extra salaries.
