KARACHI: (APP): The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has become `UNESCO Centre for Excellence Category-2 Institute'.
This is an honor for the country, says a spokesman of the ICCBS on Friday.
The newly admitted students of M. Phil. and Ph.D. program-2016 are welcomed to the world class institutions. The successful students owned the opportunity to be the part of this internationally famous research establishment.
Director ICCBS Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary stated this on Friday while addressing the orientation class held for the new students of M. Phil. and Ph.D. program-2016 in the Prof. Salimuzzaman Auditorium on Friday.
A large number of students, research officers and faculty members attended the orientation class. Senior Professor Dr. Shaiq Ali and Dr. Syed Ghulam Musharraf also spoke on the occasion.
He said to be a part of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) is really an honor not only for the University of Karachi but also for the whole nation.
He mentioned that the facilities at ICCBS are at par to any good research establishment in the West.
He asked the successful students to work hard with their studies and research work, as they are the part of the internationally famous higher learning academic programme.
ICCBS scholars are expected to exhibit complete dedication to their studies, including spending maximum productive time in their lab, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the ICCBS at University of Karachi is considered one of the finest academic research establishments of chemical and biomedical sciences in the developing world.
Students are given admissions to the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) and H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry.
