ISLAMABAD – Federal government proposed surprise name for the slot of IG Sindh Police.
The federal government on Wednesday has proposed another name, Dera Ghazi Khan RPO Imran Ahmar, for the post of Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP).
According to sources, provincial Governor Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will hold a meeting on the nominated name, and the matter will be finalized after reaching a consensus.
The federal cabinet had earlier expressed strong reservations on the proposed names which included Mushtaq Mehar, Ghulam Qadir Thebo and Kamran Fazal. Ahmar was posted as the DG Khan RPO on July 2, 2019.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has decided not to raise the issue, terming it as an administrative matter.
The Constitution and law do no demand any counsel of the Governor on the removal and appointment of an IG, and it has never been done before in any other province.
Earlier today, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday has met Sindh Inspector General Dr. Kaleem Imam and discussed law and order situation in the province.
