ISLAMABAD - Record-breaking Pakistani umpire, Aleem Dar couldn’t control his emotions during a ceremony held in his honor. He burst into tears when his brother, Naeem Dar, mentioned a story of Aleem’s love for their deceased father.
Naeem told the audience that Aleem was extremely close to their father and treated him with utmost respect and love. The story of his affection with his father made him cry on stage.
The three-times ICC Umpire of the Year said that it was an honor for him to equal his idol, Steve Bucknor’s record of officiating 128 Test matches.
The 51-year-old elite panel umpire urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to induct at least 20 umpires in the central contract to encourage local umpires so that they can go on to represent Pakistan at the international stage. He also requested the cricket board to increase the match fee for domestic matches to Rs 10,000 for umpires.
