KARACHI (APP): Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA Asif Hasnain Sunday quit the MQM and joined Mustafa Kamal's Pak Sarzamin Party (PSP).
The MQM's Member National Assembly (MNA) announced the decision at a press conference here. PSP leader Mustafa Kamal was also present on the occasion.
Asif Hasnain, who was elected as MNA from NA-255 Landhi-Karachi, said he took the decision because of Altaf Hussain's anti-Pakistan speech.
"I announce leaving Altaf Hussain's MQM owing to his anti-Pakistan remarks," he said. There was no justification for him to continue as an MQM MNA in view of the party leader's negative approach, he added.
He made it clear that he did not take the decision because of any pressure from any quarter.
PSP chief Mustafa Kamal welcomed Asif Hasnain into his party.
He maintained that disassociation announced by Farooq Sattar from the MQM founder was a deception, as he was not "competent enough to run the MQM without Altaf's patronage."
Mustafa Kamal also advised Farooq Sattar to "start telling the truth now."
