KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will remain closed on May 1, 2017 (Monday) on the occasion of “Labour Day” as declared by the government of Pakistan.
There will be a public holiday across Pakistan on the International Labour Day.
The day is aimed at paying tributes to workers’ sacrifices in achieving economic and social rights all over the world.
Labour and traders organizations have chalked out special programmes to highlight significance of the Labour Day.
The government has launched various programs for the welfare of the workers including Social Security Network, Old Age Benefit Schemes and Workers Welfare Fund.
Pakistan’s constitution also contains various provisions and articles about labour rights.
