KABUL – Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani held an important phone callwith the Saudi King Salman, Afghan Media had reported.
As per Khaama Press, President Ashraf Ghani hailed the leadership of theKingdom of Saudi Arabia for its role and support to an Afghan-led peaceprocess in a phone call about the Afghan reconciliation process with theSaudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said President Ghani described theSaudi conference as vital for bringing peace and stability in Afghanistanand said the conference is an important and good start for the other stepsto be taken in the future.
Saudi King, quoted in a statement by ARG Palace, said the Kingdom of SaudiArabia believes in an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace proces and willcontinue to its efforts to maintain peace and stability in Afghanistan.
This comes as efforts are underway to initiate direct peace talks betweenthe Afghan government and the Taliban group in a bid to find a politicalsolution to the ongoing violence in Afghanistan.
