ISLAMABAD: Two consecutive bomb attacks targeted security forces in Quettaon Friday, marking a sharp escalation in militant activity in theprovincial capital. No casualties were reported in either incident, but thecoordinated nature of the strikes has raised serious concern among lawenforcement agencies.
The first explosion occurred on Qambrani Road when a convoy of securityforces was conducting routine patrol duties. According to police officials,a remote-controlled improvised explosive device detonated near the passingvehicles. Personnel remained unharmed, though one vehicle sustained partialdamage from the blast.
Minutes later, a second remote-controlled bomb exploded on Mohallah BalaRoad, targeting the Crime Scene Unit that was proceeding to investigate theinitial attack. The unit’s vehicle was close to the blast site when thedevice was triggered. Fortunately, all members of the forensic team escapedinjury.
Following the twin attacks, security forces immediately cordoned off bothlocations and launched a comprehensive search operation in surroundingareas. Bomb disposal squads were deployed to neutralise any additionalthreats while evidence collection continued under strict security protocols.
Senior police officials described the incidents as a deliberate attempt todisrupt peace and target law enforcement personnel responding toemergencies. Investigations have been initiated to identify theperpetrators and determine the type of explosives used in both attacks.
