Pakistan Cyber Shield Launched to Fortify Digital Frontier

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday officially launched theNational Cyber Shield Policy, a comprehensive framework aimed atstrengthening Pakistan’s digital defences against evolving cyber threats.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication ShazaFatima Khawaja announced the policy, stating it provides robust protectionfor critical sectors including e-governance platforms, financial services,and health data systems.

The minister underlined that cybersecurity has now become an integral partof national security, with the new policy establishing unified standardsfor both government and private institutions.

Shaza Fatima praised Pakistani youth for actively defending the country’sdigital borders and contributing innovative solutions to emergingtechnological challenges.

The Cyber Shield Policy forms a key pillar of the broader Digital NationPakistan initiative, which seeks to attract private-sector investment andgenerate employment opportunities for young IT professionals.

The framework also complements the recently approved National ArtificialIntelligence Policy, creating an enabling environment for AI-drivencompanies and homegrown innovations.

According to the minister, coordinated digitalisation efforts have alreadyboosted Pakistan’s IT exports and strengthened the overall technologyecosystem.

Shaza Fatima reiterated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of rapidnationwide digital transformation, assuring that the new measures willdeliver secure infrastructure, safeguard sensitive citizen data, and openvast economic avenues in the information technology sector.
