New developments reported in LHC over Maryam Nawaz bail plea

ISLAMABAD – New developments reported in Lahore High Court over MaryamNawaz bail plea.

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday has postponed hearing on petitionseeking bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president MaryamNawaz in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case till October 30.

The hearing was adjourned over the request of director general of NationalAccountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore.

Responding to NAB’s appeal, Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer said the court had notissued any notice to anti-corruption watchdog’s DG and that we can easilybrief the case in this hearing. However, Justice Ali Baqir adjourned theproceedings, saying that the arguments will be recorded in the presence ofNAB counsel.

Earlier, NAB had submitted preliminary investigative report to the LHC onMaryam Nawaz’s bail plea, where the bureau had expressed fear that shemight flee abroad.
