BEIJING – While announcing Prime Minister Imran Khan’s official visit toChina starting from November 2, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Mondaythat the upcoming visit would provide an opportunity for the leaders of thetwo countries to open a new chapter of the development of bilateralrelations under the new circumstances.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, on the invitation of his Chinese counterpart LiKeqiang will pay an official visit to China from November 2 and on theinvitation of President Xi Jinping, he will attend China InternationalImport Expo from November 5 in Shanghai, Chinese foreign ministry’sspokesperson Lu Kang said during his regular briefing held here.The spokesperson said that this would be Prime Minister Imran Khan’s firstvisit to China after assuming the office.
“This visit will provide an opportunity for the leaders of our twocountries to open a new chapter of development of bilateral relations underthe new circumstances,” he said when asked to share the specific detail ofthe visit by APP Correspondent.
He said that during his visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold talkswith the prime minister and added, Premier Li Kiqiang will also hold talkswith the distinguished guest.The spokesperson informed that the two sides would have an indepth exchangeof views on bilateral relations and cooperation and issues of commoninterest.
“Apart from official events in Beijing, Prime Minister Imran Khan will alsotravel to Shanghai to attend first China International Import Expo,” headded.
Pakistan will participate in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) tobe held in Shanghai as the guest of honour. Prime Minister Imran Khan willattend the opening ceremony of the CIIE, and deliver a keynote speech.Lu Kang stressed that China and Pakistan were all-weather strategiccooperative partners, adding, “Our friendship dates back to a long time andour two sides enjoy very strong political mutual trust.”
He expressed the confidence that the bilateral relations between China andPakistan would not be affected by a change in the international and thedomestic situations.“In recent years, both the countries enjoyed frequent high-level bilateralrelations and our pragmatic cooperation have been deepened,” he added.
The spokesperson said that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) hadachieved the fruitful outcome and the friendship between the all-weatherfriends had become ever deeper to deeper.
He recalled that in July this year, general elections were held smoothly inPakistan and the Pakistani new government reaffirmed that it wanted todeepen friendship with China.“We hope the two sides can take this visit as an opportunity to deepen ourcooperation across the board and to move forward all-weather cooperativepartnership, he added.
