NEW YORK – Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met with hisRussian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in New York.
Pakistani and Russian foreign ministers met on Friday on the sidelines ofthe 73rd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) and talked bilateralcooperation as well as regional issues.
Qureshi “appreciated cooperation with Russia in the field of energy andtermed it as a ‘strong pillar’ of [the] partnership between the twocountries,” the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a pressrelease issued late night.
“The two Ministers discussed broader areas of mutual cooperation includingtrade and investment, peace and security, and development cooperation,” itadded.
The Pakistani foreign minister also highlighted that the “graduallyincreasing multi-dimensional partnership” between Islamabad and Moscowneeded to be translated into a “multi-faceted strategic partnership”.
