ISLAMABAD – Record-breaking Pakistani umpire, Aleem Dar couldn’t controlhis emotions during a ceremony held in his honor. He burst into tears whenhis brother, Naeem Dar, mentioned a story of Aleem’s love for theirdeceased father.
Naeem told the audience that Aleem was extremely close to their father andtreated him with utmost respect and love. The story of his affection withhis father made him cry on stage.
The three-times ICC Umpire of the Year said that it was an honor for him toequal his idol, Steve Bucknor’s record of officiating 128 Test matches.
The 51-year-old elite panel umpire urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)to induct at least 20 umpires in the central contract to encourage localumpires so that they can go on to represent Pakistan at the internationalstage. He also requested the cricket board to increase the match fee fordomestic matches to Rs 10,000 for umpires.
