ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed his serious concernover power theft in the country and swelling circular debt.Chairing a briefing in Islamabad today (Wednesday) to review the issuesrelating to the power sector, he observed that bad governance, corruptionand flawed policies worsened the situation.The Prime Minister said that a task force is being constituted to work outa comprehensive strategy for addressing sectorial issues with special focuson improved governance, tariff rationalization and plugging variousloopholes in power generation, transmission and the distribution system.The Prime Minister said he would spearhead a comprehensive public awarenesscampaign to sensitize public and to garner their support for checkingelectricity theft and ensuring better management of the power sector.Secretary Power Division Rizwan Memon briefed the Prime Minister about theissue of line losses and the circular debt which has touched 1.18 trillionrupees.
