PESHAWAR (APP): A three days anti-polio campaign began on Monday in 13 high risk districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa wherein 3.644 million children under five years of age would be vaccinated with the help of 12,059 teams.
The Spokesman of Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) told APP that the campaign was launched in 13 high risk districts including Peshawar, Charssadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank and DI Khan district where 3.644 million children would be administered anti polio vaccine.
The Coordinator said as per the direction of Secretary Health KP, a comprehensive micro plan has been constituted for which 12,059 teams constituted including 10,438 mobile, 921 fixed, 592 transits and 108 roaming were formed to target the said children. These teams would be supervised by 2,643 area in charges.
The government is fully committed to eradicate polio and cases of polio have been significantly reduced in Khyber Pakthunkhwa, the Spokesman said. He said time was not for away when polio would be completely wiped out from the province.
In Peshawar, 2230 teams would vaccinate 8,33,000 children, 937 teams to target 2,88,000 kids in Charssadda, 1137 teams to vaccinate 3,89,000 kids in Mardan, 1147 teams to target 2,75,000 kids and 792 teams to administer 62,000 children in Swabi district respectively.
A total of 1373 teams were formed to vaccinate 4,49,000 kids in Swat, 1230 teams to 2,75,000 kids in DI Khan, 696 teams to 1,82,000 kids in Bannu, 636 teams to administer 1,95,000 in Kohat, 701 teams for 1,68,000 kids in Lakki Marwat, 496 teams to vaccinate 1,34,000 kids in Karak, 400 teams to 1,10000 in Hangu and 284 teams to 84,6600 kids in Tank districts respectively.
