LAHORE – Zaeem Qadri, the former provincial spokesperson for PakistanMuslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), who ran as an independent candidate for theLahore-12 constituency, failed to make a mark in Wednesday’s polls as hecame last in the list of total 11 contenders.

The holder of Jeep (electoral symbol) could bag only 50 votes.

PML-N’s Rana Mubashir Iqbal stood victorious by securing 76,291 votes whilePakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar came secondwith 45,991 votes, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.Muhammad Irfan Shahkey from Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) grabbed 9901votes.

Total number of registered voters in NA-134 Lahore 12 constituency was270,783 with female voters 114,921.

Other participants from this constituency were Muhammad Sohail Afzal Awanfrom Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians(PPPP), 5425 votes; AneelaBatool from Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), 1454 votes; Syed Faqir HussainShah Bukhari from All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), 720 votes; ZulfiqarAli Hassan from Allah Akbar Tehreek (AAT), 675 votes; Rana Khalid Mehmood(Independent), 460 votes; Aneel Ashiq Mutu (NP), 381 votes; and ShaziaMubashir (Independent), 249 votes.

Less than a month before the general elections, Zaeem Qadri had quit theformer ruling party after lashing out at ex-CM Shehbaz Sharif and his son,Hamza Shehbaz, for not valuing his decade-long services.

On June 21, the former provincial minister alleged that only “servants ofHamza Shehbaz were being allotted tickets”. The angry Qadri said: “I willnot polish your shoes…Lahore is not your or Shehbaz Sharif’s property.”

He even dared Hamza to come with his team of “servants” and contestelections against him.

Qadri had also announced that his wife had decided to withdraw hernomination from the list of priority candidate for reserve seats given fromthe party to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
