PESHAWAR – Several senior members of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) quit as riftscontinued to deepen within the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) due to thedominating role played by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in the issuanceof party tickets for the upcoming polls.
Members who quit the party blamed JI chief and Senator Sirajul Haq for theunrest.
One of the leaders who quit the party said, “The Jamaat has become arudderless ship since Sirajul Haq took over command at Mansoora.”
“He is visionless and does not have qualities to lead the party,” added thedisgruntled leader.
The leader further remarked, “There is no match between Sirajul Haq andMaulana Fazlur Rehman and Haq looks like a Lilliputian in front of theshrewd Maulana.”
JI Nowshera District Chief Anwar Islam and heads of 53 villages quit theparty because their opinion regarding the allotment of the ticket for PK-63was allegedly ignored.
Moreover, JI members got 37 tickets for the provincial assembly while JUI-Fmembers got 62 tickets.
Similarly, JI members got 11 tickets for the National Assembly while JUI-Fmembers got 26 tickets.
Lower Dir MMA leader Ayaz Gul said, “If the JI candidate suffers defeat inpolls in Upper and Lower Dir districts, that will be at the hands of itsown party supporters and not PPP or any other party.”
