Pakistan Foreign Minister vows to stand by Saudi Arabia in case of security threat to Harmain Shareefain

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has vowed that Pakistanwill stand by Saudi Arabia in case of any threat to sanctity or security ofHarmain Shareefain.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi gave this assurance to his Saudi counterpart Dr.Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf during a special meeting on the sidelines ofOIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Makkah.

The Minister said peace and security of Pakistan is associated with peaceand security of the holy land.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the visit of crown prince Mohammed bin Salman toPakistan left everlasting impressions on Pakistanis.

He said the announcement by crown prince to release 2107 Pakistaniprisoners incarcerated in various jails of the kingdom won the hearts ofpeople. He impressed upon his Saudi counterpart to take immediate steps fortheir release to materialize.

Foreign Minister while appreciating the mediatory role of Saudi Arabiaduring Pak India tensions following the Pulwama incident made it clear thatparticipation of India in the OIC is not acceptable in any capacity.

He also sought the attention of his Saudi counterpart over issues faced byPakistani workforce and students in Saudi Arabia.
