Despite invitations, No high profile international leader to attend PM Modi part taking ceremony

NEW DELHI – Despite invitations, No high profile international leader toattend PM Modi part taking ceremony, it has been revealed.

The oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his newcouncil of ministers will be held on Thursday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The swearing-in ceremony will begin at 7 pm on Thursday. The leaders fromBIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and EconomicCooperation) countries – Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepaland Bhutan – are on Prime Minister’s guest list and so are KyrgyzstanPresident Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind KumarJugnauth.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Tuesday said thatthe ceremony will be attended by Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid, SriLanka President Maithripala Sirisena, Myanmar President U Win Myint, NepalPrime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering.

Thailand will be represented by its Special Envoy Grisada Boonrach whileBangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be absent from the ceremonydue to prior commitments.
