Pakistan offers new services to Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Friday underscored theimportance of increasing cultural ties between Pakistan and SaudiArabia and said the kingdom can utilise the services of local artists,directors, and actors.

Speaking to media in Riyadh, the information minister said: “Pakistan isfully supporting the cultural revival of Saudi Arabia.”

Stating that the “Indus civilisation of Pakistan is more than 5,000 yearsold and we have a diversified and rich cultural history”, Chaudhry said,“Our institutions of culture and performing arts are well established andthey are ready to extend cooperation to Saudi Arabia. The kingdom canutilise the services of expert calligraphers, artists, directors and filmactors of Pakistan.”

The information minister urged that Saudi Arabia is keen to increasecultural ties with Pakistan. “A festival by Pakistan will be organisedin Saudi Arabia next month which will be attended by a large number ofPakistani expatriates,” he added.

“Saudi Airlines has been requested to provide Pakistan dramas and filmswith Arabic dubbing,” the information minister shared.

Further, he said, “Relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have beenimproving since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government came into power,”he asserted.

Chaudhry stated that the Pakistan government recently waived visarestrictions for Saudi nationals and hoped that a large number of Sauditourists will visit Pakistan to “experience the scenic beauty of northernareas and other cultural places in the country”.

“Two million Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia have an important role inthe national economy,” he said.

Appreciating the role of Saudi Arabia in the recent escalationbetween India and Pakistan, the information minister said, “Saudi Arabia isa genuine well-wisher of Pakistan”.
