LAHORE – Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and PunjabHealth Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique appeared before the NationalAccountability Bureau (NAB) in separate inquiries on Thursday.

The graft-buster had summoned Fawad for interrogation in the Ashianahousing scheme scam as he has been alleged to have misused his authority topressurise CM Punjab while he was serving in the provincial bureaucracy.

The accountability watchdog had unearthed illegalities and corruption worthbillions in a deal between Paragon Housing Society and Punjab LandDevelopment Company (PLDC) to establish low-cost housing project of thePunjab government – Ashiana housing scheme.

Moreover, Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical EducationKhawaja Salman Rafique – who happens to be the brother of Railways MinisterKhawaja Saad Rafique – also appeared before the NAB for an inquiry into theParagon Housing Society.

According to media reports, Rafique was probed for more than an hour afterwhich he left the NAB Lahore Bureau.

Just a day earlier, Saad Rafique had also appeared before NAB in aninvestigation pertaining to the housing scam as he is believed to ownParagon Housing Society.

On the same day, Rafique held a press conference and remarked that theslogan for accountability has been chanted for a different purpose.

He claimed that he answered all questions of the NAB, adding that hisstance on NAB was intact.
