Malala Yousafzai emotional speech in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – Returning home after nearly six years, Malala Yousafzai, theyoungest person to receive a Nobel Prize, gave an emotional speech whileaddressing her first conference in Islamabad.

Teary-eyed Malala spoke about how happy she is on finally being home. “Ihave dreamed of returning to Pakistan for the past five years,” she said.Malala added that when she was roaming around the London streets, she usedto tell herself that she was roaming on the streets of Pakistan. “But itwas not Pakistan,” she said.

Malala left Pakistan in 2012 after surviving an assassination attempt byTaliban. Taliban gunmen shot Malala in October 2012 as she was returningfrom school. She suffered bullet injuries and was admitted to MilitaryHospital Peshawar. She was later shifted to London for further treatment.

She has become an internationally recognized symbol of resistance to theTaliban’s efforts of denying women education and other rights.
